Why a Doctor of the Church?

“In offering St. John Eudes, we wish to highlight a saint who, in times of disunity and uncertainty, worked for the renewal of Christian life. Through the powerful image of the heart, this saint has forged a practical spiritual path whereby a baptized person, following Mary, is invited to “form Jesus within his/her self.”

This is a quote from a concise (yet meaty) blog post by Sr. Marie-Françoise Le Brizaut RGS, a member of the team working with the Vatican on the doctorate cause. She describes the attitude of the Eudist Family in pursuing the project.

“It is not a matter of glorifying the Eudists but of enabling Christians to better gain access to his teaching.”

Here’s to a hearty discernment!
